Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a number of frequently asked questions from customers who purchased our metal storage buildings, rv covers and carport kits, metal barns and other outbuildings:

How are our metal buildings anchored?
All our Metal Buildings are built using a baseplate system.
That baseplate is 3"x 2" x 3/16 angle with a 5/8" hole punched next to the welded stanchion that the posts fits over.

Use a foundation "L" or "J" bolt for new concrete, on existing conc. use a wedge type anchor as shown in the instruction manual.

What is the metal frame made of?

We use 13ga.X 2,3/8"o.d.round guaranteed structural tube.

What type of metal panel do you use?
All of our Metal Storage Buildings use exclusively McElroys Multi-Rib.A 26 ga. 3' wide Galvalume panel with the industries best finish Hylar 500/ Kynar 5000 and a very resilient white bottom, or inside finish. Available in 15 color choices.

How long are the panels?
We ship 21' ft. panels for our 20' structures and 26' ft. for our 25'structures. A 30' metal structure uses 21' ft. and 11'ft. panels and so on.

Unless requested otherwise we ship what 2 people can work with.

How wide of a structure or what clearspan are the structures?
We can bend our bow truss to any specified width from 5'ft. to 24'ft. Standard sizes are 12' wide, 14' wide, 20' wide, and 24' wide. Leanto's for our metal barns are 12' ft. wide.

How high can we go?
We go up to a 12' ft. post that gives you 13' ft. at the second bend in our bow truss (that bend is 1'ft. in from the inside of the structure) and a peak height of 15'ft. on our 24' ft. wide structures.

What are garage door frames made of?
We use 2"x4"x11GA wall Rectangular metal tube. We also use this product for our headers in our implement style structures and metal barns .

Which way does the roof drain?
The sheeting or panels are applied horizontally or run length ways on our structures so rain water will flow off the end rather than the sides.

A gutter trim can be applied to the end you choose to slope toward that will divert water to the side.

Do I need a permit for metal buildings?

You may or may not. Ask your local building authority. Regulations vary from place to place.

Are your structures considered portable?
Again opinions vary, I have moved several of our All Weather Steel Structures in a variety of ways including a 24' ft. wide x 35' long enclosed on three sides on a 12' post using 2 12"x12" wood beams and 2 forklifts. Smaller structures can sometimes be moved by hand. Others were moved with pickups or tractors. All fully erected. They can also be quickly disassembled and re-erected at another site. Call and we will advise.

How much wind can your bldgs. handle?
All Weather Steel Structures are designed to handle anything less than a catastrophic weather event. However your location may require an increased snow load, please advise us when ordering
